| [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]in South America plains, Phorusrhacos from Starlux. These running giant birds were predators. Their hooked beaks and like-claws fingers don't leave any doubt about!.. They even were able to stole to smilodon its preys.. Smilodon is from Kaiyodo.

| Yes, that's the giant birds I was talking about last day !
I did not remember their name but I do remember they were fierce predators and lived in South America. _________________ Schleich 370 CollectA 76 Papo 61 Safari 24 Yujin 15 Southlands 12 Mojo 14 Maia&Borges 5 Bullyland 1 Recur 1 Homemade 3 Bootleg 1 Total 582

| I am quite amazed about how well painted some of your starlux figures are, yet they are so small !
Did you repaint them or have they always been like that ? _________________ Schleich 370 CollectA 76 Papo 61 Safari 24 Yujin 15 Southlands 12 Mojo 14 Maia&Borges 5 Bullyland 1 Recur 1 Homemade 3 Bootleg 1 Total 582

| I am sure this smilodon is feeling quite hounoured of being part of your Starlux adventures! Again everything looks so perfect and I love these birds! I wished they were not exting, I'd surely love to have one as a pet. It is again a brilliant model from the French brand. |

| In North America, during eary Miocen epoch: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Miotapirus (from Starlux) are looking for their food.. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]These figurines are actually "Paleotherium" from Starlux but see in "Eo-scenes" to understand why they are used under an other name here..

| You surely don't want us to search for a Starlux miotapir on EBAY France! I think it is genial that you use them as miotapirs and they look very confortable searching for their food. If it was not the number of toes I'd suspect this mould could be the correct one for a malayan tapir while the tapir mould could look fantastic as a prehistoric tapir with the crest of a South American. The crest, despite not having fossile evidences, it is often used by paleoartists in their reconstructions in many kind of prehistoric mammals. Still about crests, maybe the sagital crest of this figure is too pronounced even for a Malayan tapir. I hope more interesting stories about Starlux models with your wonderful sceneries will have more sequels! |

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Deinotherium (= terrific beast) from Starlux in Miocen Europa and Africa. Though once considered as close to elephants, their elephant-like appearance is now rather regarded as the result of "convergent evolution". By the way, modern reconstitutions show them with shorter trumps (see up the Bullyland replicas). This figurine yet testifies to knowledge of its time!.. |

| Perfectly integrated with all these prehistoric plants and scenery. Deinotherium is relatively common among major brands but that is a recent phenomenon. Again Starlux is forward. |

| Moropus (= slow foot) in early Miocen of North America (from Starlux) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Moropus belonged to Chalicotheres family that was originaly rather close to horses one. But As the horses evoluated toward speed performance, Chalicotheres changed hooves with hugue claws and thin legs with robust ones, which made them able to catch foliages and to dig ground to get food but which made them unable to run fast to escape predators. But their so strong armed arms were so dangerous for predators that they did'nt need to flee them! and it's probably why that surprising ongulated family survived a so long time (20 millions years!) Moropus was an early member of this family and was not yet as specialised as some more recent european and african species which have developped very stronger and longer arms with terrific claws and which could'nt run. Some specialits think that one chalicothere species could have survived until now in deep forest of Kenya and Tanzania where they are called "nandi bears". These replicas show 4 claws and toes for each foot though they actually just had 3, but we shall forgive Mr Massat, the sculptor of Starlux brand, this mistake since he was the first to sculpt this animal in sixties of the last century!.. |

| We have to thank Mr. Massat for providing so nicely sculpted figures. Some little mistakes are perfectly normal and finding information was not as easy as it is today. It is less forgivable to understand why the PV, Mini K&M, Playspaces and Panini figures were made with a huge kangaroo tail. They seem to be made based on a common mould though. I also wonder how the CollectA mini moropus, a very nice model, work together with the Starlux. Maybe some of CollectA minis could work perfectly in your fantastic dioramas. |
