| thank you Taos, Andreas and Rogério for comments! :)
Rogério, I think CollectA mini are smaller than Starlux ones but I think they could be used in the same dio, displaying them behind!

Rogério, I think CollectA mini are smaller than Starlux ones but I think they could be used in the same dio, siplaying them behind! I am sure that you know how to manage it if they are not similarly sized. CollectA is a kind of Starlux of the new era, it would be great if some of them worked nicely together. |

| Starlux Platybelodon (= shovel shape teeth) from upper miocen of Eurasia and Africa: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Unlike others mastodons, upper incisives (tusks) were rather short, but lower horizontal and flat ones, at the top of an elongated low jaw, are supposed to have been used to dig in swamps to find aquatic plants to eat. This figurine does'nt suffer any too visible flaw, so I think Mr Massat, the Starlux brand sculptor, had found a good enough model (Burian?). To my knowledge, I don't know other replicas of this strange mastodon..

You're welcome! I continue not being able of seeing your pictures in my computer but fortunately I can see them using my mobile phone. I wish I had seen them last night to dream with these wonderful animals instead of dreaming about humans what is quite scary. |

| OK Rogeério, so, I am going on.. and thank you Andreas! :) Machairodus from Starlux, upper european and african miocen: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]That's not the best figurine of the range! bad sculpting, bad painting and not accurate at all! I wonder if it's realy from Mr Massat, the Starlux brand sculptor!.. or what model he had to copy on! (that I yet did'nt find) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]..here ready to attack a Samotherium, a kind of okapi who was living in the same areas. No need to look for it in starlux prehistoric catalog, there is no one! I just used the less accurate common Starlux one (not the one from WWf range!). [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Machairodus are supposed to have been lonesome hunters like most of cats, meeting partner only for breeding.. As said upper, this figurine suffers 2 flaws, for Machairodus was not as specialised in "saber way" as its descendants Homotherium and Smilodon. It yet had a rather long tail and its upper fangs were not so long! To my knowledge, there is only one replica more of Machairodus, from Bullyland (to see p.1). It's very few to compare with so many ones of Smilodons from historical brands (Marx, Impro..) or modern ones (Schleich, Papo (2), Safari ltd (5!), CollectA (2), Mojo fun, geoworld, AAA,..) But Smilodon is a star among prehistoric replicas! Thou, this figurine can be used as Homotherium because of its hyaena-like falling down back line. So I cut a little its to long fangs, closed a little its to wide mouth and changed its unnatural pyjama too: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]" Homotherium is also called "Scimitar-cat" and lived in Eurasia and North America thou Smilodon lived only in both America.

| I was just to say that machairodus is defintely not the most interesting Starlux figure but while reading, I see you mentioned it. I love your homotherium, much but really much better than the original version. Good idea also with the okapi metamorphose. Now I know my browser is not showing files with extension png on forum. Surely a boring configuration is needed but don't worry, I can see them just using any other browser. As the last 3 pics are jpg, they work perfectly. |

| Cool pics. Not fan of all the figures, like the last sabeltooth figure. Love the scenes in the river environment!
Did you make the hills in the last pictures ? How did you make them. Looks great! |
