Today’s entry for the dinosaur advent calendar is Gigantoraptor erlianensis. My figure of choice is the Collecta Gigantoraptor.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Gigantoraptor was 25 feet long and weighed 2 tons. It lived in the late Cretaceous of China. The figure is 1:60 scale which means I again do not have any humans for scale.
In 2015, Battat released photos of a Gigantoraptor prototype. That Gigantoraptor was never released, but if it was I would have figured out how to get it.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
This creature lived with Alectrosaurus, a species who will enter my collection next year for beasts of the Mesozoic. Gigantoraptor was part of the oviraptor family, which means it is related to the smaller oviraptor and citipati.

So today’s entry and Friday's entry will both be hybrid dinosaurs. This one is a carnoraptor. It was released in 2015 for the Jurassic World Dino hybrids line. It is a hybrid between a velociraptor and a Carnotaurus, but in the jurassic world game, it is as hybrid between a pyroraptor and a Carnotaurus.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
This poster for a book featuring a bunch of wacky hybrids lists the Carnoraptor as being 13 feet long and weighing 250 pounds. I will be using these measurements.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Using these measurements, this Carnoraptor is 1:20 scale, which means it ties in with the Mattel Jurassic world line.

Here is today’s entry. The safari Ltd Kaprosuchus.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Kaprosuchus saharicus lived in the middle Cretaceous period of Africa. The name means “boar crocodile” as a reference to the boar like tusks 🐗. This creature could run and was about 20 feet long.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
This figure is 1:30 scale, which is a close scale to my 1:33 knock-off Cameroceras figure. Kaprosuchus is a crocodylomorph. Also if you want to see any comparisons of figures, just make requests below.

Today’s dinosaur is the Stegoceratops. This is a hybrid dinosaur from the hasbro jurassic world line.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
This dinosaur is a figment of my imagination, but thankfully Stegoceratops appeared in the same poster I used to list the length of the Carnoraptor. According to the poster, Stegoceratops was 33 feet long and weighed 11 tons, which makes this figure 1:55 scale. That means it is in scale with lego people! Yay!
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
It is a pretty big dinosaur.

A short message from gecko: I will be venturing into a very treacherous place called a flea market today. I will hopefully come home with more dinosaurs. In the event that I do, in adherence to the policy I described on December the first...
“ We are now i such a close period to Christmastime, any dinosaur that arrives in the mail between not and Christmas will be saved for Christmas. This means I cannot do a forum post about new dinosaurs I get because I will not get them until Christmas. Expect lots of Christmas posts. I will from now on date mark my posts”.
In adherence to this policy, I will be unboxing those toys and adding them to my collection on Christmas Day. But this policy does not mention providing a small photo of one toy from the lot. So I will do so along with today’s dinosaur. Today’s dino will come soon.

PostSubject: Re: Gecko08’s Collection & Recent Acquisitions   Gecko08’s Collection & Recent Acquisitions - Page 7 EmptySat Dec 12, 2020 4:28 pm

Today’s dinosaur is the winged reptile-Anurognathus.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
This figure was released by Character Options for the Primeval toy line. Anurognathus appears in the 4th episode of the first season of Primeval. It is depicted as a bloodthirsty killer, killing several people over the course of the episode. In reality, Anurognathus is nothing like that. Anurognathus was depicted more accurately in the second episode of Walking with Dinosaurs.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Anurognathus was a pterosaur lived in the Late Jurassic period of Europe. It’s name means “without tail and jaw”. The body was only 2 inches long, but the wingspan (which is my preferred method of measuring pterosaurs) could be up to 2 feet. The Anurognathus was insectivorous. In the episode of Walking with Dinosaurs that it appears in, Anurognathus was seen living on Diplodocus. The Anurognathus would eat the parasites off the bigger diplodocus.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
This figure is about in scale with the 1:12 primeval human series done by character options. Now you might be thinking, “Why did Diplodocus have a symbiotic relationship with Anurognathus when Diplodocus lived in North America and Anurognathus lived in Europe?”. Europe was connected with North America during the Jurassic period. It was only in the Cretaceous period that they spit apart.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
While not exactly in scale, the symbiotic relation between the two means I have to pair the Toyway Diplodocus and the Primeval Anurognathus.

I had a very successful flea market trip. In adherence to my previous policy, I kept most until Christmas. But I kept two miniatures that I wanted to research.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
These little guys caught my eye at the market. They are safari Ltd, and they are what look like tube miniatures, but I’ve never seen that color scheme on this raptor before. They are very interesting toys.

Follow me over to my dinosaur identification topic to help me solve the mystery. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

UPDATE: the mini raptors from the previous post are part of a series called Safari Ltd Authentics. They are often called “mini carnegies” and were released in the 90s.

I was worried for a second that they might be knockoffs.

You beat me to it lol. I was going to tell you it was a Safari Authentics. I think there's someone looking for the raptor, if you wanted to sell the extra. Seems it's a harder one to find from the set. I have a few myself that were flea market finds. (Not the raptor though!)

When I saw those two in the flea market, I originally thought they were Dinosaurs of China (I’m still looking for those). When I got in the car, I did some research on my phone and couldn’t find them, so instead I posted them on forum to see if anyone can identify them.
Today’s dinosaur will be up shortly

Today’s dinosaur is one of my favorites. The cryolophosaurus ellioti. Cryolophosaurus lived in the Early Jurassic of Antarctica. It weighed 800 pounds and was 20 feet long. I have three cryolophosaurus figures.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
The first two are the Collecta Cryolophosaurus and the Battat Cryolophosaurus. They are both around 6 inches, making them exactly 1:40 scale. That means they scale up with Schleich’s 1:40 human I got with my birthday Shonisaurus.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
My third cryolophosaurus is the Mattel Primal Attack Cryolophosaurus. This figure is 12 inches long, making it 1:20 scale, putting it in scale with the Mattel human series.
Now here are my three cryolophosaurus figures with to scale humans.

This is a rather busy day. I was able to leak two photos of Christmas presents from the flea market. I know they are both from lontic (aka happy kin).
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
This one is a retooled JP3 T. rex. I like this one, and I can’t wait to have it on Christmas.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
This One is more mysterious. This is an unnamed lontic carnosaur. I don’t know the species. Usually lontic repaints and retools older figures (like it did with a Jurassic park 3 raptor and T. rex), but I don’t recognize the sculpt.
This is why I have a Dinosaur identification topic: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Today’s dinosaur is a very interesting species. Procompsognathus triassicus.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I have a Mattel figure of a Compsognathus, but in the lost world: Jurassic park, the paleontologist identifies this creature as “Compsognathus triassicus” which is invalid. The species the name refers to is Procompsognathus triassicus. With that cleared up, we can get into some facts.

Procompsoganthus lived in the Late Triassic period. It was 3.5 feet long and weighed 2 pounds. This creature’s name suggest a relationship with Compsognathus longipipes of the Jurassic period. In reality Procompsognathus triassicus was more related to coelophysis. With that out of the way, let’s get into scale. The longest figure from this set is 2.25 inches long, making it 1:18 scale. This puts it with the Mattel human series.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Mesozoic Dinosaurs (1:18)
Homalocephale (Unknown), Procompsognathus (Mattel)
