CollectA 2021 - UPDATED with FINAL batch (27 November)

So far, my CollectA 2021 wishlist:

Definite yes:
1. basking shark
2. American lobster
3. Texas longhorn cattle
4. Xiphactinus

Quite probably:
1. Mongolian horse

Definite maybe:
1. Exotic shorthair cat

Meh/20.

Except the basking shark, nothing really interesting for a wildlife collector. The frog and the lobster will be too big for me.

Don't bite my head off for saying that but Schleich has had better releases for the last two years...

In terms of Wild Life's diversity of species I guess you are right. Still there's one more batch though.
It's obvious from 2020 and 2021 selection that pre-historic life is the main current focus of the company..

Nothing for me yet, just the Bull if I decide to buy farm animals. Almost everything else looks very good too, not my collecting object though.

The problem is that these sell much better than wildlife and compagnies are probably going to focus more and more on that now the economic crisis pleads for safe investments...

I have met a considerable number of toy shops owners and sellers during my "figure hunts" and they all told me the same thing : horses are for little girls and dinosaurs for little boys while wildlife does not sell as good.

So far for me: the Lobster, Texas Longhorn, Basking Shark and the Darwin's Frog.

Still the only figure for me is probably the shark. The Colorata Darwin’s frog is on my wishlist, and this one will likely be much larger and the level of detail (despite the promo picture) may not be as good. The boxer is also tempting, but wildlife are my focus....

How big is the Chincoteague Pony? I love the look of Collecta's horses, but they're too big to fit with my Schleich barn setup. That pony might work though. :)

Dinosaurs are ok, especially uncommon species.

A lot of horse collectors think that it is OK too, but sadly neither of these are my priorities. So I'm a bit sad to see this evolution in the last few years, but time has changed.

I like the lobster and Darwin's frog, but the Xiphactinus is the biggest want for me.

Several lovely figures here as well! I think the Darwins frog is the most exciting species wise so far. If the past predicts the future... there should be one more batch this coming Friday right?

It's a nice new batch of figures but the kangaroo is a massive disappointment! Its face is sloppily painted and I hate that they used the old sculpt. I'll be getting even more horses from CollectA it seems

plus, the make the common error of coloring the female red kangaroo red; males are reddish, females are mostly gray (except for some desert regions)! My red roo is the Southlands Replicas figure, which is a male. I still don't have a female with joey - none on the market really grab me yet.

I disagree; last year was one of their most diverse years in a very long time, especially considering prehistorics and invertebrates. You're not always going to get 20 figures to your specific desires. Every year is different and be happy you get anything at all.


EDIT: I see, you mean specifically the 'Wildlife' line. Yeah it seems they are spending as much time cleaning up old models as they producing new ones.

I definitely agree the addition of invertebrates this year was nice to see

Xiphactinus is my favorite and I also enjoy the Darwin’s frog. I like that the Boxer is represented like that. Obviously CollectA will not invest in new moulds for all key figures that are outdated. They did it with the grey wolves and now with the red kangaroo. I don’t mind it, it is just like it is not a new release.

He even updated the topic from his mobile was early as he could and the reason why I asked his help it was because it is a nightmare for me when I have to do it from a mobile phone.

I'm excited for the gorilla baby, just received the 2020 male gorilla and I really like that model.

I like and enjoy the new version of the baby mountain gorilla This year's adult will be a perfect match. I am still waiting for the baby of the white rhino, takin and mountain tapir

Maybe in the last batch. Isn't there an Antelope or Whale species still missing?

You are right, except for prehistoric. Ancient animals are very good from Collecta.

CollectA isn't really know for making that, there are very few animals that they really make a male and a female, although I really would like to see a female Mountain gorilla too.
