I'm so relieved I still made it in time despite everything. I guess the figures you sent me also helped with getting me into a better state of mind. |

| It’s nice to see these in-progress pictures. Everyone has a different way of repainting but the results are all turning out well. I won’t be done by the end of the day, but I hope to finish within another day or two. I repositioned the antlers, spreading them apart and a little bit upward. This really helped the model, and even if the change of position could be even more pronounced, I’m happy with it this way. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Here are a few other views of the model with a neutral base color to cover the existing paint. It’s a really nice sculpture. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Here’s a photo of some progress. I felt somewhat out of practice for repainting, and I’ve changed my mind about how to go about painting it as I went. So while it looks a little muddled to me, I think/hope the blending and colors will come together better by the end. I think the most challenging part might be how the mane is sculpted. It has a rather abrupt transition from a somewhat stylized, heavy mane texture to the rest of the body. In life this contrast is less exaggerated, and there is also often a blending of the contrasting fur colors. I’m trying to make this transition look natural but the blending can seem strange while in-progress. With further layers I’ll add some richer, reddish-brown tones- while the fur fits for a winter coat that could be paler, I’m imagining him in the autumn. I guess we’ll see what happens… [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] _________________ - Andy

| So far that bull is stunning! Great work on the antlers, the undercoat really makes the sculpt details pop out. I can't wait to see the final color but it looks awesome even now. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | I want to apologize, that I am sooo late with making my repaint for this event. I`ve just started yesteday ... ... trying to finnish it at once, but I didn`t have enough power for that. I know the time is over, but let`s at least show how the model looks so far : [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]These are just a base colours, but I think that maybe this evening (night) I can finnish it, at least i will try.. So if there is any chance to wait the ''Slowest sloth'' here a bit more , it will be wonderful |

| Andy, I love your Elk, so magnificent and it's really interesting to read about the clever adjustments you made! Good luck painting him, your plan sounds wonderful! And Kosta, what a beeeautiful Buffalo! It's amazing that these are only the base colours, because if I were to paint something as realistic as that, I would already call the model complete! I can't wait to see the final result! |

| Thanks Paige, Anna, & Bonnie. I'm still working on my model... and I still haven't commented on all the beautiful completed repaints. Kosta, that is a very promising first phase for your buffalo. Birdsage, I like your mule deer repaint with the distinctive tail. I didn't know this figure existed. Halichoeres, I'm looking forward to seeing your plant. I decided the eyes and face were the most important things to do next. The rest of the painting should go easier/faster when I can refer to the painted face. I mixed a light and a dark color in little containers, that I'm blending/layering for most of the fur (I probably should have done this right from the beginning). I took this photo to help compare the eyes to each other, and I thought the shadows were kind of funny: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Varnishing the eyes right after painting them helped get a better feeling for things- I can picture him as a living animal now: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Progress on the mouth and jaw... nose and ears aren't done yet: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] _________________ - Andy

| I've missed a few I see. The mule deer looks nice! I think it is a really cool animal with the white tail and face contrasting the brown, great choice for a repaint. I'm happy you joined the sts model painting month with this lovely repaint and the wapiti is coming along great too. It is a lot of fun to see the different proces stages and in my experience too the painting looks a bit muddled when blending colours before it actually looks nice and blended. Looking forward to seeing it finished _________________ [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Anne-Joke [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] ajs.artistry - Instagram AJs Artistry Shop - Etsy |
