| I stopped by Ollie’s today and got the Mattel Basic Dino Spinosaurus. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Back with a usual post… Kaprosuchus saharicus (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous Africa Length: 20 feet Scale: 1:30 Dolichorhynchops osborni (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous Western Interior Seaway Length: 10 feet Scale: 1:40 Without copy and paste, I could never type Dolichorhynchops. I usually call them “Dollies”, but Dolichorhynchops is easier to say than to type. I recently lost my 1:40 man that came with my Shonisaurus, but I found the Safari Caveman at the same scale, and it’s added more character to my shots. Chilantaisaurus tashuikouensis (Vitae) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous China Length: 38 feet Scale: 1:60 I was beginning to fear that both my Vitae figures were ripoffs, but they both have Vitae’s logo. This one just is a color variation or a second release. I also wish it were bigger, but if someone made a bigger figure, it would have to be superior in quality and accuracy. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Nyctosaurus gracilis (PNSO) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous Utah Wingspan: 6 feet Scale: 1:12 At the same time the Dollies chased small fish, the Nyctosaurus flew in the sky. Some reconstructions depict it having a regular crest, but this figure depicts a thin membrane stretched out on the crest. Indosuchus raptorius (PNSO) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous India Length: 22 feet Scale: 1:80 Homalocephale calathocercos (Nayab) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous Asia Length: 6 feet Scale: 1:18 10.14.2021 _________________ “They were here before us and if we’re not careful, they’re going to be here after”-Ian Malcolm Also check out my collection here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Haydn [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| First off, this is an image-heavy post. I recently took a trip to Jurassic Quest in the Coast Coliseum in Biloxi. I have to say the animatronics themselves were pretty interesting. This is a Siats, a T. rex sized allosaurid that stalked Utah around 100 mya. Nice to see an obscure species brought to the spotlight. The rest are pretty much regular species. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][/url] [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Here are some marine species. This is what I believe to be a product of the last few years. They got the YouTube people from T. rex Ranch (used to be ToyLabTV). The fact that i know who these guys are, just show that I was a dinosaur-obsessed kid in the early 2010s who watched way to much YouTube. It’s how it goes. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Megalodon [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]In terms of figures here, it was a complete disappointment. It was only a chinasaurus Parasaurolphus from some sweatshop company called “dr. Cool”. They were way overpriced. On Amazon, the PNSO Lambeosaurus costs $22.99 USD, and it is at least ten times better than the chinasaurs sold here. In fact, the guys in the booths weren’t able to name any high quality replica companies (he had no idea what I was talking about when I mentioned Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]It wasn’t always like this. About 5 years ago, I visited Jurassic Quest in the Coliseum and found a holy grail. Giganotosaurus Carolinii (Carnegie Collection by Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous Argentina Length: 42 feet Scale: 1:40-1:45 Even so, this figure suffered a lot of abuse being packed and unpacked over and over again. Due to this, it only has one figure on its left paw. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Even then, it’s a keeper and an extremely accurate figure. It shows that they used to sell high-quality figures, but now they sell CHINASAUR DOLLAR STORE QUALILY CRAP! 10.15.2021 _________________ “They were here before us and if we’re not careful, they’re going to be here after”-Ian Malcolm Also check out my collection here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Haydn [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Here is the remainder of my Cretaceous Collection. My current collection is chiefly Cretaceous, so finishing this era means I can cover other eras like the Jurassic, Permian, Carboniferous, and some Cenozoic. Lepidotes sp. (K&M) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The Baryonyx itself is around 1:40, but that would imply a gargantuan fish. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Early Cretaceous Europe Length: 12 inches Scale: 1:10 Lepidotes lived before and after Baryonyx went extinct, but since this Lepidotes is an accessory to the Baryonyx, I was able to single it out to this era and locality. Either this was an unusually massive fish or this is a juvenile Baryonyx (which seems the more likely answer). While the Baryonyx isn’t as pretty as Safari’s figure, it does showcase an obscure ancient fish. Therizinosaurus cheloniformis (Collecta) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous Asia Length: 30 feet Scale: 1:50 Caudipteryx zui (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Early Cretaceous Asia Length: 2 feet Scale: 1:10 Muttaburrasaurus langdoni (Collecta) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Early Cretaceous Australia Length: 26 feet Scale: 1:50 Nigersaurus taqueti (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Early Cretaceous Africa Length: 30 feet Scale: 1:40 Tapejara wellnhoferi (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Early Cretaceous Brazil Wingspan: 12 feet Scale: 1:15 Nemicolopterus crypticus (PNSO) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Early Cretaceous China Wingspan: 25 cm (smallest pterosaur) Scale: 1:2 Beipiaosaurus inexpectus (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Early Cretaceous Asia Length: 8 feet Scale: 1:30 Guidraco venator (PNSO) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Early Cretaceous Asia Wingspan: 6 feet Scale: 1:20 Bistahieversor sealyi (Collecta) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous New Mexico Length: 25 feet Scale: 1:50 Edmontosaurus regalis (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous Canada Length: 30 feet Scale: 1:40 Cretoxyrhina mantelli (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous Colorado Length: 15 feet Scale: 1:80 Olorotitan aharensis (Collecta) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous Asia Length: 25 feet Scale: 1:50 Ectenosaurus clidastoides (PNSO) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous Colorado Length: 15 feet Scale: 1:50 Hatzegopteryx thambema (Collecta) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous Europe Height: 18 feet Scale: 1:40 10.16.2021 _________________ “They were here before us and if we’re not careful, they’re going to be here after”-Ian Malcolm Also check out my collection here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Haydn [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

| I decided I might as well make a second post today. This will showcase the last of my current Paleozoic collection (just some Permian and Carboniferous) then I will move on to the Cenozoic and Jurassic. Orthacanthus arcustus (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Carboniferous Length: 10 feet Scale: 1:30 Edestus giganteus (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Carboniferous UK Length: 20 feet Scale: 1:65 Trochosaurus acutus (Kaiyodo) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Permian South Africa Length: 3 feet Scale: 1:20 Inostrancevia alexandri (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Permian Siberia Length: 12 feet Scale: 1:23 Sarcoprion Edax (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Permian Greenland Length: 20 feet Scale: 1:60 Scutosaurus karpinskii (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Permian Siberia Length: 8 feet Scale: 1:30 Dimetrodon grandis (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Early Permian Texas Length: 12 feet Scale: 1:25 10.16.2021 _________________ “They were here before us and if we’re not careful, they’re going to be here after”-Ian Malcolm Also check out my collection here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Haydn [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

| I don't really collect Safari's dinosaurs, but their Carnegie collection has a certain charm to it that I love. I only have a handful of figures from that line but if I were to get another it would have to be that Giga. I've always loved that model so much, I'm not even sure why, the paint and pose is just soooo appealing to me _________________ Jolie

| Very nice presentation I disagree with your scale estimate about Inostrancevia though, based on a 3,5m max lenght and a 0,6m skull lenght, the Safari ltd is between 1/20 for the skull and 1/23 for the total lenght. The Olorotitan is indeed 1/50 according to Gregory S. Paul 8m long estimate, it could be 1/75 using Thomas R. Holtz Jr. 12m estimate. Ok, Paul estimate could be a safer option. |

| I corrected the scale . Here are some Jurassic critters. Dilophosaurus wetherilli (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Early Jurassic New England Length: 20 feet Scale: 1:40 The only dinosaurs from 2020 and 2021 from Safari that I am still seeking are the Daspletosaurus, Shringasaurus, and Sarcosuchus, but I’ll find those eventually. This is a very good figure. Ichthyosaurus communis (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Triassic-Early Jurassic Europe Length: 11 feet Scale: 1:40 Pleuroceras sp. (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Early Jurassic Europe Scale: 1:1 Metriorhynchus brevirostris (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Jurassic Length: 10 feet Scale: 1:30 After being reminded of this set from Safari, I really wish my small dog hadn’t bitten the Henodus figure in half. Monolophosaurus jiangi (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Middle Jurassic China Length: 18 feet Scale: 1:30 Archaeopteryx lithographica (PNSO) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Jurassic Length: 20 inches Scale: 1:6 I’m probably going to get the Safari Archaeopteryx and take this one off the list. This is a well rounded figure, but it can’t stand because one of its legs is fused to its wing for some reason. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Guanlong wucaii (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Jurassic China Length: 10 feet Scale: 1:20 The Capcom and Favorite versions are very hard to find, but once I got this figure in hand, I realized it was pretty accurate and a well rounded figure. It’s a shame that all of Favorite’s most interesting figures are museum exhibition exclusives. Sinraptor dongi (Vitae) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Jurassic China Length: 25 feet Scale: 1:30 Like the Chiliantaisaurus from Vitae, this one has a different paint job and can’t stand, but it has Vitae’s logo stamped on its belly, so I doubt they are bootlegs. 10.17.2021 _________________ “They were here before us and if we’re not careful, they’re going to be here after”-Ian Malcolm Also check out my collection here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Haydn [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Here is another good chunk of my Jurassic collection (the last piece will come out tomorrow). Hybodus houtienensis (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Jurassic Length: 6 feet Scale: 1:30 Proceratosaurus Bradleyi (PNSO) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Middle Jurassic Length: 10 feet Scale: 1:30 Allosaurus fragilis (Favorite Co) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Jurassic Length: 26 feet Scale: 1:40 For some reason, Favorite’s series 2 dinosaurs just seemed too shiny. Europasaurus holgeri (Bullyland) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Jurassic Length: 20 feet Scale: 1:30 I always pronounced this name as “your-rope-ah-sore-us”, but I just learned it was pronounced “Europe-oh-sore-us” (which makes more sense considering it lived in Germany). Liopleurodon ferox (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Jurassic Length: 20 feet (Walking with Dinosaurs said it was 25 meters, but that was based on incorrect measaurments). Scale: 1:40 Like mosasaurs and plesiosaurs, this figure could use a tail fluke, but it’s perfectly fine otherwise. Allosaurus fragilis (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Jurassic Length: 26 feet Scale: 1:30 Camarasaurus lentus (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Jurassic Length: 50 feet Scale: 1:40 Leedsichthys problematicus (Sansyo88) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Middle Jurassic Length: 50 feet (but estimates vary) Scale: 1:50 (still, estimates vary and could change) Apatosaurus ajax (Papo) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Jurassic Length: 60-69 feet Scale: 1:40 Brachiosaurus altithorax (Papo) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Jurassic Length: 59 feet Scale: 1:30 This is a massive figure, so if you’re going for something smaller, but as accurate, Safari’s Brachiosaurus works well. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]It’s about 1:60. 10.18.2021 _________________ “They were here before us and if we’re not careful, they’re going to be here after”-Ian Malcolm Also check out my collection here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Haydn [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Here is my final post on my Jurassic Collection. My next post today will cover the remainder of my Cenozoic beasts. First off, a two figures I missed when I covered the Cretaceous. Daspletosaurus torosus (Collecta) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous Montana Length: 26 feet Scale: 1:40 I still want Safari’s Daspletosaurus, but Collecta’s pose is unique enough for me to let it stay on the list on the first page. Abelisaurus comahuensis (PNSO) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous South America Length: 23 feet Scale: 1:80 This is a great figure for its size and is very accurate to the real animal. While the size of the figure (it’s a miniature) was at first turning me away, I soon realized that there are plenty of sauropods from South America that were made in very close scale to this (see: Collecta’s Argentinosaurus). A majority of Titanosaurs were made in smaller scales, but this might be a good thing, because anybody with smaller shelves or not very much room would be Hesitant to buy a massive sauropod. Now for the Jurassic. Rhamphorhynchus longicaudus (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Jurassic Wingspan: 3 feet Scale: 1:6 I usually measure pterosaurs by wingspan. This toothy beak is a Jurassic Fish’s worst nightmare. While the figure is much too big be photographed in a group shot with any of its direct contemporaries, I do have some Jurassic fauna in 1:6. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Barosaurus lentus (Lontic) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Jurassic North America Length: 82 feet Scale: 1:100 This is one of those instances where a massive sauropod is represented in miniature. Tianyulong confuciusi (PNSO) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Jurassic China Length: 70 cm Scale: 1:6 This is the only heterodontosaurid in my collection. Some really old brands took a stab at Heterodontosaurus itself, but they were inferior to this figure by far, and I would rather wait until a brand makes an updated version of Heterodontosaurus. Anchiornis Huxleyi (PNSO) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Jurassic China Length: 34 cm Scale: 1:4 This is a very interesting species, given that we know what coloration at least one individual had. This figure is an okay match to the real life colors, but the plumage could be darker in general. Yi qi (PNSO) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Middle Jurassic China Length: 1 foot Scale: 1:6 The only scansauropteryid in my collection. PNSO loves adding new families and new species into my collection! 10.19.2021 _________________ “They were here before us and if we’re not careful, they’re going to be here after”-Ian Malcolm Also check out my collection here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Haydn [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

Chalicotherium goldfussi (Bullyland) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Miocene Shoulder Height: 8.5 feet Scale: 1:30 Anchitherium ezquerrae (Bullyland) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Miocene Shoulder Height: 2 feet Scale: 1:18 As for prehistoric horses, this one’s your best bet. Titanis walleri (Lanard Toys) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Pliocene-Pleistocene Height: 6 feet Scale: 1:20 Macrauchenia patachonica (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Miocene-Pleistocene Length: 10 feet Scale: 1:40 Smilodon fatalis (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Pleistocene-Holocene Length: 7 feet Scale: 1:18 Doedicurus clavicaudatus (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Pleistocene-Holocene Length: 12 feet Scale: 1:20 Mammuthus primigenius (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Pleistocene-Holocene Shoulder Height: 11 feet Scale: 1:40 HOMONIDS! Australopithecus afarensis (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Pliocene-Pleistocene Height: 4 feet, 7 inches Scale: 1:25 Homo habilis (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Pleistocene Height: 3 feet, 11 inches Scale: 1:20 Homo erectus (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Pleistocene Height: 4 feet, 9 inches Scale: 1:20 Together, we journeyed from the First complex life, to our very own ancestors, and I hope that we see so many more species on this topic, and I’m sure we will. In the meantime, be happy to discuss this topic in the reply section while I await new figures.

| Here are two surprise additions of today. Lisowicia bojani (Collacta) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Triassic Poland Length: 14.7 feet Scale: 1:23 (shown with 1:25 human, but 1:20 human would be just as good) A Triassic era figure is always a welcome addition to my collection. This figure represents a dicynodont similar to my nayab Placerias. Lisowicia is believed to be the last Dicynodont. Nice pickup from Dejankin’s. Collecta has gotten a lot better at creating figures since they started. Pteranodon longiceps (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous North America Wingspan: 18 feet Height: 6 feet Scale: 1:20 I expected to find and buy this figure (along with a couple other Safari dinosaurs) at the Jurassic Quest, but I picked it up at Michael’s today. Interesting how an arts and crafts store has better figures than an actual traveling exhibit with dinosaur animatronics. While this pairing may seem like it puts Pteranodon on the small side, this is a pterosaur in a walking pose, which means that I can’t really measure the wingspan. Height is a bigger factor in this pose. 10.21.2021 _________________ “They were here before us and if we’re not careful, they’re going to be here after”-Ian Malcolm Also check out my collection here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Haydn [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| I was still on the fence with a few figures when I finished the Cenozoic era segment of my posting. Here is the last figure until my birthday that will be on this topic. Deinocheirus mirificus (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous Asia Length: 36 feet Scale: 1:60 I was on the fence with this figure mainly because of its defect. First off, the legs are warped (maybe it overheated on the way to the Exploreum…). Either way, it’s been condemned to a tripod stance or toppling over. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]But the thing that irritated me the most is the unsightly defect on its neck. It’s weird and strange, but it’s unnoticeable from the angle I took the reference shot. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Here is a photo from BionicleSaurus’ review of this figure compared to my figure. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Despite all this, I still like the figure. It could be a few inches larger, but i would rather have it without the defects than at a larger size. Even the vibrant coloration is not entirely unrealistic for a creature at its gargantuan size, representing a vividly patterned, large, feathered dinosaur that used the colors for display. I’m most likely going to buy another Safari Deinocheirus without the defects. I was considering making a group shot, but I wanted to wait until after my birthday and until my Dejankin’s order arrives. Feel free to discuss figures and the species in the reply section because I won’t be making another figure related post for about a week. 10.22.2021 _________________ “They were here before us and if we’re not careful, they’re going to be here after”-Ian Malcolm Also check out my collection here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Haydn [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Some unexpected events took place today and yesterday, which led to figures arriving earlier than I expected. Due to this, I will be making a post earlier than I expected. Euhelopus zdanskyi (PNSO) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Early Cretaceous China Length: 49 feet Scale: 1:25 The photo is blurry because I had to actually hold the camera to take the shot because of how immense this figure is. It’s one of PNSO’s massive vinyl models, so it’s hollow and not that heavy. Still great accuracy and detail. Unfortunately, the head snapped during transit. I later learned this is a byproduct of the figure being made of six separate parts and stuck together. I glued the head back and apparently this easily happens. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Here is the story. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Chlamydoselachus sp. (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous Length: 12 feet Scale: 1:35 And here’s from my latest Dejankin’s order. Eusmilus bidentatus (Bullyland) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Eocene-Oligocene Europe Length: 8 feet Scale: 1:25 Superficially it resembles a Smilodon, but it’s a nimravid (aka, False Saber Tooth Cat). Plesiosaurus dolichodeirus (Favorite Co) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Early Jurassic England Length: 11 feet Scale: 1:25 There isn’t much in the way of Early Jurassic Figures, so you have to take what you can find. Geosternbergia “Pteranodon” sternbergi (Favorite Co) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous North America Wingspan: 19 feet Scale: 1:30 Labeled as Pteranodon, this actually represents Geosternbergia. You can tell from the crest shape. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]After my Brett order arrives, I will have obtained all the Favorite Co Ltd figures I’m after. Xiongguanlong baimoensis (Collecta) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Early Cretaceous China Length: 15 feet Scale: 1:40 Argentinosaurus huiculensis (Collecta) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous Argentina Length: 98 feet Scale: 1:80-1:90 (scale for this species depends on your estimation because all the specimens are incomplete) I've needed an Argentinosaurus for a long time, and now I've finally got one. A 1:40 scale Argentinosaurus would be too big for anyone with size restraints in their collection. The Schleich juvenile Giganotosaurus is representing an adult Mapusaurus. | Okay people, so today is my birthday and I have plenty of new additions to the collection to show for it! First off, are the figures that arrived today, but weren’t birthday presents because I just ordered then earlier this week and they arrived now. Geoworld’s Zuniceratops. It’s about 1:20. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]It’s not as good as the beasts of the Mesozoic version, but it’s a fun figure nonetheless. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Henodus chelyops (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Triassic Germany Length: 4 feet Scale: 1:15-1:18 My dog mauled this figure specifically when I first got this tube, so I went to ebay and bought a new one just now. It fits well with the other Triassic turtle cousins from PNSO. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I ordered this weird set from Amazon called Zoo World (I think it’s produced by Diramix). It features a bunch of marine creatures as rubber bath toys. It has one extinct animal and that’s the main reason I got this set. It’s just proof that nobody’s safe from collector’s compulsion. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Thankfully, I have a friend who would like some pool toys that won’t sink to the bottom. Here are the ones I’ll be giving away. A derpy Shark, a pink ray, a squishy marlin, a bean-filled Pufferfish, and a walrus with two left feet. My friend’s birthday isn’t until December so I better get used to seeing these abominations. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And here’s the main reason I bought this set. Dinichthys herzeri (Diramix) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Devonian of USA Length: 25 feet Scale: 1:85-1:90 This weird rubbery thing represents Dinichthys, a placoderm (similar to Dunkleosteus and Mcnamaraspis). I read that the figure was 7 inches (THE BAG THEY CAME IN IS BARELY 6 INCHES!!!). The 7 inch length would put it at 1:50. Thankfully, the Dunkleosteus in the Collecta tube is 1:85 so I have something to compare it to. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]On the bright side, Diramix got the fins correct for the most part. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Here are the ones I’ll be keeping. An eel that immediately suffered paint loss, an albino stonefish or frog fish, a pacu (or a deep sea fish), an octopus, and my Dinichthys. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And here are two birthday presents. More coming later today. Diprotodon optatum (Southlands Replicas) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Pleistocene Australia Length: 10 feet Scale: 1:25 The largest extinct marsupial that ever lived fits well into my menagerie of creatures. It was like a giant wombat. Several companies over the years have taken a stab at making a Diprotodon, but none as detailed and as accurate as Southlands Replicas’ figure. They also made a marsupial lion (Thylacoleo) that I’ll keep an eye out for. Bajadasaurus pronuspinax (Collecta) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Early Cretaceous Argentina Length: 39 feet Scale: 1:30 Despite being in the same superfamily is Diplodocus, the Bajadasaurus and other Dicraeosaurs don’t agree with the stereotype massive sauropod. They are still massive, but they aren’t the biggest or the smallest. Their necks are rather short compared to their body size. It’s not to scale cousin, the Safari Amargasaurus. They were both around the same size in real life. You can tell them apart because Bajadasaurus has a mowhawk and Amargasaurus has a mullet . | At my party this afternoon, I got several PNSO dinosaurs as presents and they were delightful. Tarbosaurus bataar (PNSO) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous Asia Length: 33-39 feet Scale: 1:30-1:40 Little bitty dinky arms (I couldn’t resist saying that when it came to the tyrannosaur with the smallest arms). PNSO’s Tarbosaurus goes well with my other 1:40-ish tyrannosaurs (Battat rex, Geoworld Albertosaurus, Papo Gorgosaurus, Collecta Daspletosaurus, etc.) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Here it is with close relative, Tyrannosaurus (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Machairoceratops cronusi (PNSO) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous Utah Length: 18 feet Scale: 1:30 [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Chungkingosaurus jiangbeiensis (PNSO) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Jurassic China Length: 15 feet Scale: 1:30 Yangchuanosaurus shangyouensis (PNSO) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Middle Jurassic China Length: 26 feet Scale: 1:30 Interestingly, the Yangchuanosaurus is equipped with lips. Something a majority of PNSO’s other theropods need but don’t have. This one and the Chungkingosaurus come in a set. | Thank you everybody for your kind words on the happy birthday topic and here. It has truly been a great 15 months on this forum so far. Interesting, my parcel from Dejankin’s arrived today (they use expedited shipping for $10 so it arrives in a few days, but I would have probably bought more figures if the shipping didn’t cost this much). I forgot about these two figures I got a while ago. Nanuqsaurus hoglundi (Golden Link) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous Alaska Length: 16-20 feet Scale: 1:35 A tyrannosaurid known only from a few jaw fragments. It also inspired the Gorgosaur from the WWD feature film (the one with the talking Dinos). It’s a nice little dwarf tyrannosaur, but I would buy a feathered Nanuqsaurus when it’s made. Montealtosuchus arrudacamposi (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous Argentina Length: 6 feet Scale: 1:20 This little crocodyliform lived too late to meet any of the usual South American species (Mapusaurus, Giganotosaurus, Argentinosaurus, etc.). Maiasaura peeblesorum (Playful Home & Colorata) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous Montana Length: 30 feet Scale: 1:20 This massive soft toy does have nice accuracy and detail, but i also like the Colorata Maiasaura. I only really got this figure due to its scale, because the Colorata was 1:80, and I usually prefer 1:55 or above (but those are flexible when you consider accuracy, detail, and species, which are the main deciding factors in my collection). The funny little nestlings are about 1:15. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And now for the Dejankin’s order. Plesiosuchus manselli (Safari Ltd) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Jurassic England Length: 21 feet Scale: 1:35 Real shame safari discontinued this figure. I was going to get it somewhere down the line, but I wasn’t about to wait until it was unavailable on Dejankin’s to start looking for it. Goes well with Safari’s Metriorhynchus and PNSO’s Dakosaurus. Megalosaurus bucklandii (Collecta) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Middle Jurassic England Length: 20 feet Scale: 1:40 Megalosaurus was the first dinosaur ever found, but it isn’t world famous like tyrannosaurus. They were on the right track when they coined “dinosaur” and said that they were ancient and extinct, but they thought it looked like this abomination. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Kamuysaurus japonicus (Collecta) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous Japan Length: 26 feet Scale: 1:55 Recently, Japanese dinosaurs have been getting more attention, which is good for us. Also Collecta’s sculpting is phenomenal on this figure. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Elasmosaurus platyurus (Collecta) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Cretaceous North America Length: 34 feet Scale: 1:45 As you can see, today’s haul is mostly Collecta figures. Safari’s Elasmosaurus certainly isn’t a bad figure, but Collecta’s is larger and emulates the most recent discoveries with a tail fluke. No shame on Safari’s figure, because it was made before this discovery. Now I have the earliest plesiosaur (the favorite Plesiosaurus) and what was probably the last plesiosaur. | The most recent addition to my collection. Ophthalmosaurus icenicus (Recur) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Middle-Late Jurassic Length: 20 feet Scale: 1:20 Ophthalmosaurus was named after its massive eyes (which are about the same size as a human’s head). It arose to popularity after its appearance in the third episode of Walking with Dinosaurs, and a very nice figure was released in the toy line from Toyway. The Toyway ophthalmosaurus is extremely rare, but recur made another Ophthalmosaurus a couple years ago and I thought I’d try it out. This is probably my only recur figure, as none of them are particularly unique (species wise) or particularly accurate. I can’t find any glaring inaccuracies in this figure, and the detail is nice as figures go. I won’t be getting too many figures between now and Christmas, but I still plan on keeping this topic going by taking some group shots. Jurassic 1:20-1:25 [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Ophthalmosaurus (Recur), Chilesaurus (Papo), Plesiosaurus (Favorite Co), Guanlong (Safari Ltd), Hybodus (Safari Ltd). The Ophthalmosaurus feels like such a titan after seeing it with the smaller fauna. 11.02.2021 _________________ “They were here before us and if we’re not careful, they’re going to be here after”-Ian Malcolm Also check out my collection here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Haydn [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| So for November I’ve tried to take it easy, but when I see an opportunity for a species I need, I must take it. Riojasaurus incertus (Lontic) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Late Jurassic South America Length: 32 feet Scale: 1:40 I was keeping an eye out for this basal sauropodoporph for a while (I’m going to wait on a Plateosaurus, but I realized that Riojasaurus is less likely to get remade because it isn’t as popular as Plateosaurus). But then I found it misidentified as an Iguanodon for an astoundingly low price. The mistake was probably made due to its “thumb spike” which on closer inspection turns out to be an unpainted finger with the same size claw as the others. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Even then “RIOJASAURUS” is faintly printed on the beast’s belly so the seller must not have looked. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]This figure could be bipedal, but due to its obscurity, it’ll be a while if we’re gonna see it again. Here it is with Nayab’s Placerias. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]For me, continental differences mean nothing in the Triassic (because of the Pangea Supercontinent, and because the world didn’t begin to look normal until the late Cretaceous). But as long as they lived at the same time, they could have met. Riojasaurus lived from 227-213 mya, and Placerias lived from 220-216, so there was a short window where this could happen. Here's a little something for reference.
