It looks very good, scale being about 1:12-1:18 depending on which of the average lengths you use.
Here is a real one for comparison. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Added to my list with the Patagotitan and Crested Gecko

Very nice. The small brother of the great white. ^^
Now Safari, please give us fantasy figures. I want an armored Stegosaurus and female/young Bigfoot.

I thought they were done revealing figures for some time, a pleasant surprise to see them reveal some prehistoric figures!

I’ve seen so many theropods it’s hard to get excited about one, and I only need to buy 7 more. Will this be another one I need to buy?

Looks like it’s a Nanotyrannus, Andy’s Dinosaur Toy reviews received one early from them and made a review

Kind of an odd choice single the only known Nanotyrannus fossil has been confirmed to be a juvenile tyrannosaurus. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Here is a juvenile tyrannosaurus from the well researched game Saurian. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
The size is 8.5 inches making the scale 1:30. I’m on the fence about it, as I would rather buy something other than tyrannosaurus in 2022. It costs $12.99 and here is the link: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Could they have started working on the figure before that confirmation was published? And by then, they'd spent too much on getting it into production to cancel it just cos it doesn't need to exist Although I reckon rebranding as 'Juvenile Tyrannosaurus' would have been fine, a good selling point to emphasise : it's got that name everyone recognises with the novelty of being a youngster.

I'm not sure why everyone seems so upset about this release. Safari's page dedicated to this figure on the website says Nanotyrannus has been shown to be a juvenile T. rex, and it is supposed to have the QR code compatibility that brings the figure to life and explores the history of the genus and how views change in the science of dinosaurs. I haven't seen the Dino Dana movie... although I have seen many of the episodes because my kids watch it. I think this is a fine way of exploring the science of dinosaurs.

I agree with a lot of what people have said, and I also watched the trailer for the Dino Dana movie and it's about how some small dinosaurs may be juveniles of bigger dinosaurs due to the historic lack of juvenile dinosaur fossils. Maybe Safari named it Nanotyrannus so as to not spoil the movie?
I don't mean to spread any negativity towards this model as it is very accurate.

I think its a unique piece and will be getting one simply because of its controversial history. Not a bad figure, just not exactly as exciting as a new species would have been.

Well... So let's say a Nanotyrannus is a juvenile Trex and enjoy it... But you can call it Andrew or Martha
I'm not a theropod completist but this one has nice colors for me

Not really for me. We have too much tyrannosaurs from all brands.

In all seriousness though... it DOES make sense. The T rex is for a prehistoric line of toys what the african lion is for a wildlife series, or holstein cow for a farmlife series, etc. Its THE number one most recognizable dinosaur out there, I'd even say of any prehistoric species. As collectors we have to tolerate these "bread and butter" specie choices in order to get the more unique species later.

True, if you ask anybody to name a dinosaur, they would probably say T. rex, Velociraptor, Allosaurus, Stegosaurus, or Triceratops. Very few would say Masiakasaurus…..

I think T-Rexes are always going to be bestsellers, the few collectors who think 'nah, got one already' are outnumbered by a couple of orders of magnitude by the 8 year old kids who think 'Awesome, that's the BEST dinosaur!' and buy it. Then the following year, there's a whole new batch of kids who don't have a plastic T-rex at home and see one in a shop and of course it's going to get chosen over the scientifically interesting and unique-to-this-brand but just not famous species gathering dust on another shelf. And the cycle goes on a loop, new children constantly getting old enough to be into toy dinosaurs. Buying T-rexes and loving them!
Some of them will go on to be collectors, and seek out a more complete range of dinosaurs and even buy the obscure ones they'd never heard of til they saw a toy company made it. Some of them will even become the adult collectors who've made discerning decisions about what's the most up to date and authentic T-rex on the market, or those who want to collect all the good dinosaurs even if they've got nine of that species already. The kind of people who join forums
But we are a tiny, tiny minority of customers compared to the 'Cool, a T-rex!' kids who pick them up in the shops, or put them on their christmas present wishlist, or save up pocket money and pick one out online.
I suppose what I'm saying is that it'd be madness for any company to not make them just because there's a lot of them already

Yes, the TRex is the best knowing dinosaur and many collect them. I have also some, the feathered Collecta ones and the special editions from Schleich. And the babys from Papo. ^^ But is not my favorite. As a child, i loved the "longnecks", and now the members from the Stegosaurian family. But i also like oldschool raptors without feathers.
