| Yay, for the finished fox! Beautiful work, Shanti! The giraffe looks promising, the next steps will be exciting Thank you, Shanti! I'm not really sure if my Sheltie model fits the breed standard, but I decided to just enjoy the process this time and not get too much into such things. It's roughly the right size and close enough shape to represent a (1/9) Sheltie in my collection _________________ Anna Horse and Bird studio - Horse sculptures My model horse collection

| more progress pics the standing tiger is the male, and the sitting tiger female their eyes, paws and tails are not finished yet [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]their backs [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]claws a little too dark on the mother at the moment [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I'm glad I'm painting the family together because they are coming together like a jigsaw puzzle. The mother has no visible stomach yet the father is clearly visible, so both cubs will benefit from what I've learnt painting the parents. There are lots of nuances involved with the stripes being placed where and how on this Bengal pattern. I've ordered some tiny brushes for nail art that George had mentioned last year on the progress thread. So hopefully when they arrive I can make their eyes come alive! |

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] thank you Shanti ! I really like how your fox turned out, with the softness of the coat. It would be nice to see your tiger version too :) At one point your fox resembled a matt porcelain ornament [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] thank you so much! [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] thank you too! I painted the cubs today. The eyes and paws need to be finished. As well as the parents eyes and the mother's claws. I've always wanted to paint this lion cub pair as tigers in fact! so I am finally doing it :) The fatness of the cubs has turned out well as it resembles the fluffy baby tigers' fur. | Sunny, those tigers are amazing together, what a good looking family! The male is my favorite, you've really utilized the stripes to accentuate his shape. Can't wait to see the whole family complete, they'll be beautiful. :) I got a second round on my little horse today, and I don't think I will have time for anything else this weekend. I decided to push him a little darker into an early stage of graying. Next I guess it's time to move to a smaller brush and start going for finish quality rather than blobby blocking stages. | The tigers look wonderful, Sunny! I like your painting style a lot! Also, I can see you've been busy painting, not only tigers but other animals too. The equines in the background look very promising, I hope you show them to us someday too It's exciting to see the progress on your dappled horse too, Jill! He looks lovely so far. I think you got the shading just right. I love this early stage of greying I worked on my Sheltie during the weekend. I started shading and adding darker markings, although one side is still missing them. But thanks to that fact you can see two different stages of my work: only shading on one side and the first step of painting markings on the other. So far I only worked with slow-drying acrylics blending the colors while they were still wet. Later in the process, I may use pastels too. It's still quite a lot of work before the pattern is finished. Blue merle proved to be a complicated color to paint, I hope I'll be able to finish it on time. | Ahh, I can already tell it's going to be lovely! I think these challenging, intricate colours are all the more rewarding in the end, there's an extra level of satisfaction in getting it complete, looking good and correct, when the pattern has so much work involved! Love the palomino shetland, too, that's what my pony is so I'm always happy to see them in model form (she's a sooty one though, not such a clear shade)
The tigers are progressing so well, I like that they're happening as one big batch, rather than single pieces painted at different times to gradually complete a family, it means their paintwork will match so nicely in colour-mixing and style.
And the grey is going well, good choice to opt for a darker version as they do look more dramatic and should be a bit easier to complete than the paler kind, I find it hardest where the remaining colour has faded to subtle shadows and dapples, with a bit more contrast and dark points the dappling isn't so time-consuming or tricky to apply cos it's meant to be spotty and patchy and stand out! |

| That grey horse will look lovely Jill!! Very often the early stages look difficult and disappointing but in the end the result will be a beautiful swan! The Sheltie is looking wonderful already!! And so cute with the Shetty!! |

thank you Jill! I really like how your horse is coming along, and to see your 3D paintings now instead of your amazing canvas paintings - Ana wrote:

My Shetland pony cannot wait to greet his cute furry friend. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Thank you Anna! that is a lovely compliment coming from you :) it has been wonderful to see your shetland collie come along. I love the beautiful soft clean coat you are giving him :) it really suits his persona I will post the other figures in my collection thread when they are finished. They have been in the painting box for over a year :) - George wrote:

thank you George, yes you are right! Their coats are just a mix of colours so it was good to do them as a batch |

I'm looking forward to the finish quality painting :), the blobby version looks really promising I really like the darker shades of early graying and I was curious to know if you are using a specific reference photo for that? And the sheepdog [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] don't those dog breeds have the best colours! And you've layed down the base coat really smooth. I think a reason why the blue merle colour is so attractive, is the contrast between the ochery-orange and the blue-grey. It is like the blue and orange combo (my favourite) that work really well since they are complementary colours, but in dog colour it is like a desaturated version of that combo Anyway, I just wanted to put those thoughts out there, I really enjoy contemplating colours --- It's been a bit more quiet this week. How is everyone else doing? I think I will be able to finish mine it time. It's just a bit of a trend with me that I start wel on time but when it's almost done I can keep it standing like that on my desk until the deadline pressure is hitting me Also, the last few days have been a bit more busy... But May is not over yet, we can do it _________________ [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Anne-Joke [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] ajs.artistry - Instagram AJs Artistry Shop - Etsy |

| the tigers are finished I decided to keep the mother's tail all white, with faint grey markings on it. The eyes were a challenge, even with the tiny nail art brushes that I used I like to make my eyes glossy, so I glazed them with some clear nailpolish that I've had for years. It just gives them a bit more life at the right angle in the light but I don't think it can been seen in the photos. and it's really nice to have cubs this size now and it was lots of fun to do! I shall go and post on the finished thread [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]white tail [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]they all had their paw pads done [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |
