| For 2012 I'd like to see the following cattle breeds made: Hereford Cattle Family - mojos are good but don't show the correct markings - Angus Cattle Family - red or black - Gurnsey Cattle Family - never seen a model of this breed before - |

(not likley, but that would be realy cool ) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Tyler, Britains made the Guernsey/Jersey cattle already in the 1960's in lead, and later on in plastic from the same moulds, although everything is in the 1:32 scale of that time. In the late 1990's, Ertl USA bought the Britains company and their moulds, and are still producing some of the models under the name Britains... The original Britans models came in several variations in colour and mould through the years, and the last mould is still used by Ertl today. Probably all of the Britains cows, bulls and calfs were made in a Jewrsey version to. I don't own all of them, but a lot. the earlier models from the late 1960's up to the mid 1980's are called vintage models, the later models are called deetail models. | My personal guessing for 2012 :
I think, Schleich will publish following figures in 2012 :
WILDLIFE
Indian Rhino Indian Rhino Calf
New African Elephant bull New African Elephant cow New african Elephant calf
Ostrich Female
New Hippo New Hippo Calf
Striped Hyena Black Leopard Black Leopard cub
New Chimp New Chimp Baby
Tapir calf
New Crocodile
Gaur Bull
Fallow Deer Fallow Deer Female Fallow Deer Calf
Eurasian Otter Kodiak bear Kodiak bear cub
New Walrus
FARMLIFE
New Pig two diffrent new piglets
Hungarian Mangalitza-Pig Hungarian Mangalitza-Piglet
New Sheep Family
New Texas Longhorn bull
New Donkey foal
Galloway bull Galloway cow Galloway calf
New Goat family, maybe Waliser Goats from switzerland.
HORSES
Palomino Mare Palomino Foal
Quarter Horse mare Quarter horse foal
New Friese mare New Friese foal
I'm not familar with all the diffrent horse races, so its hard for me, to say, which new horse races will come out in 2012...
RETIRED :
African Elephant family Hippo bull Chimp Family Black Rhino female gazelle Gazelle Calf Crocodile
Grizzly bear Grizzly bear cub
White tailed deer family
Pig and piglet
Sheep family Texas Longhorn bull
Araber Foal Hannoveraner mare, dressur Mustang stallion Friese mare Friese foal
I think, this is a realistic view. Altough I would love to see more antelopes, I don't belive in new antelope species in 2012, they have now three diffrent antelope species, but who knows...But it would be a miracle.......
I'm sure, Schleich will present us some more surprises as they did this year...So lets hope for 2012, in just a few weeks, we will know...

I like your forecast, Bongo. But if Schleich introduced Striped Hyena it would be a MIRACLE indeed! By the way, why do you think they could retire Gazelles? They are not old and look much better than, say, the hippo. _________________ Owners of miniature zoos on shelves, unite! My collector's blog

| I think, Schleich could produce a Striped Hyena, after they had twice a spotted hyena.
They have to do new models each year, and because I don't belive in new antelopes, they could do another african predator. The lions and leopards are new, so the hyenas are he largest and most known african carnivore species, and there not really much popular asian or american cats....A clouded leopard would be a good example for a big miracle....
I know, the gazelles are new, but Schleich had many models in the past, which were sold only two years, and antelopes are no big sellers, so in every store I've been to in the last weeks, there were a lot of gazelles left...
Thats the reason why I don't belive in a new antelope species in 2012...I think, the Kudu was produced, because there are not too much animals left, which are attraktive enough for the common people..So why they have procuced again the Kudu and not a Sable Antelope, a Bongo or an Eland ?

| Noah, I think the skunk, aardvark and flamingo are long-overdue Schleich figurines. One could probably add the porcupine, opossum and capybara to that list.....however, the "creative department" at Schleich AG these days is notoriously unimaginative...except when it comes to putting out overpriced novelty stuff like the dragons and the heroes/animal duos. I'm waiting for the announcement of a special "flying pigs and cows" line, with each figurine priced at 100 euros... |
